Lahey Hospital & Medical Center’s department of Colon & Rectal Surgery is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the department.
In this position the Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) will be a key member of the patient care team providing a wide range of care for patients with varied colorectal diagnoses from initial evaluation and assessments, to postsurgical follow up in the outpatient setting.
Working in close collaboration with the medical staff, residents, fellows and other advanced practice team members you will actively participate in patient care, rounding on patients in the hospital, assisting medical staff manage patients as well as managing patients independently and becoming the primary care giver for certain patients populations in the clinic setting. You will coordinate postsurgical care and discharge planning, and educate patients to effectively reduce readmission rates. The advanced practitioner will work closely with the medical staff and receive on the job training and education by the staff in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management (including procedural performance) of colorectal diseases. The AHP will be trained to conduct a variety of outpatient procedures such as rigid anoscopy, hemorrhoidal ligation, drainage of abscess, wound management and potentially flexible sigmoidoscopy.
We are seeking an experienced APC committed to the practice of Colon & Rectal Surgery who can provide exceptional quality care to our patients, while working seamlessly with the staff. Prior experience is desired however recent graduates will be considered. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program and eligible for MA licensure.
The Colon & Rectal Department is comprised of 8 surgeons, 4 Advanced Practitioners and 2 nurses committed to excellence in patient care, innovative surgical techniques, clinical research, and medical education. Patients have access to the knowledge and expertise of board-certified specialists highly trained in all areas of colorectal surgery.
